About Me

My photo
Clarks Summit, Pennsylvania, United States
I have been crafting and doing shows for 20 plus years. I have 3 children and I love creating primitive country crafts. I am married and my husband is my biggest asset to my success. But I can't forget the help my children have been through the years and still to this day. This has been a true family event. I hope you like what you see. I have made so many friends through the years. They started out as customers an are now dear friends, and that is all worth the long hours that we all put into making our creations. I say our creations, because my husband and children help in so many ways. Enjoy my pictures and posts, have a cup of coffee and some downtime to just relax...and come back soon...from my house to yours, Denise

The list is growing...

Hi everyone, it is still cold and dreary here in Clarks Summit, and as we wait for Spring to finally arrive, I was a bit surprised to see this guy today at the feeding area. I know the animals are hungry, and surely would survive without my help of seeds and corn...but the enjoyment they bring to watch is amazing. I looked out the window and thought..."wow, that is a huge cat"...but then looked closer and saw the rings on the tail, I knocked on the window and he looked up at me with that sweet masked face...

Now I know we have always had raccoons, along with foxes, deer, turkeys and more... and every few years the band of coyotes make their presence...but it is a bit odd he is out in the daylight. I was outside taking a few pictures of him, he seemed fine..usually they say they could be rabid...he was just hungry...I didn't know they climbed trees...and when I first went out the door, I thought...oh I missed him ...but movement in the top of our trees caught my eye and there he was...perched on a skinny limb eating the buds off the ends of it...he didn't care I was snapping away...but I must say I am looking for a much better camera, with a big zoom for better pictures....I have tried 2 different ones, but sent them back as they were not as good as they claimed...but until then I am doing the best I can with this "old" Kodak point and shoot.

I hope you enjoy this cute guy, I did...I wish everyone a wonderful Easter holiday, those of you who celebrate it. Enjoy your day, don't waste it...think of what you are most thankful for.

Look who came to visit my yard

I love feeding the birds as you know from an earlier post. Not only do I get dozens of different colored birds, I have a few squirrels, chipmunks, turkeys and deer. Today I was outside painting and heard a very loud, kind of screeching chatter, followed by the loudest banging on the trees. I looked around and seen this character, actually there were two of them. They are called a Pileated Woodpecker, and they are the size of a large crow. Yes we have a bunch of crows also, but this woodpecker was a new site to my yard. His beak alone is about 3 inches long, and when he pecks at the trees, it is really loud....nothing small about this guy. But I took a few pictures of him and hope he keeps coming back...

On another note, today is my husband Jim's 60th birthday. We all went out to Red Lobster last night for dinner. If you haven't tried their coconut shrimp, it is a must for sure...they were delicious...their Manhattan clam chowder was also very good. No one at our table were disappointed in their meal. Anything from their wood fired grill is a good choice. Sorry for a short post, but I just wanted to touch base with you all and show you this wonderful creature that dropped by my yard...have a great week, and I will post again soon. Happy Birthday Jim...

Special Days

Hi Everyone, well I think Spring is finally trying to nudge it's way in here. At least where I live anyway, but the nights are still pretty chilly. The day was filled with lots to do. I first went out with my girls shopping. When I got home, my son was there with his girlfriend. We all decided to go for supper and then have cake when we got home. Well the cake turned into cheesecakes....not good...I am trying hard to lose more weight so when it came time for them I tasted a forkful of each one. I made Brittney take them home with her, as there is no cheesecake allowed in this house right now. Even if I had put them in the freezer they would not have been safe...cause I even love frozen cheesecake...a craft show I do has it frozen on a stick, and every year I get one. So thankfully it is gone and out of sight.

I love when everyone is here and visiting. Especially in the summer when we can sit out on the deck. We all had a good time, and before you knew it the day was done. I hope he enjoyed his day, as we enjoyed having everyone here. The days and years have gone by really fast, it wasn't long ago when they were all babies. Enjoy each and every day...From my house to yours...

April Showers Brought A Baby

Catchy title, but there is a meaning in it for sure. On April 3rd, 1981 I had my first child, a boy we named Kyle. What a time that was, and where did the time since then go? I was not sure if he would have been born in the beginning, as I had some bad cramps and spotting for a while. But he made it and after a long and painful labor, Kyle James Linney was born. What a joy that was to hold my first child in my arms, and know that it was our job, his Dad and I to take care of him. His Dad was walking on air, I never seen a man so proud at that moment as when he found out he had a son. A son to carry on his name, what more can a Dad ask for.

No, I didn't know the sex of my baby before hand, I wanted to be surprised. It was not very popular back then to find out what the baby was going to be. I went on to have two more children, both girls...Taryn and Jaime...and when I tell you my children are my life, I mean it in the most honest way possible. I look forward to seeing each one of them as often as I can. How can time go by so fast? I look out in my front yard and I can still see them hopping off the school bus...and in my back yard, I see them playing on the swings, and running around after each other. The swings are gone, the pool is gone, the school bus still goes by for the new children in the neighborhood...but most of the childhood toys are long gone. I have some small things saved for each of them in a box, memories of a time long ago it seems. Baby books, pictures, locks of hair, their lost baby teeth....all to be passed on when they have their own children maybe one day...

Me, I have my grown children now, and we make different moments to share... but most of the time I only have my thoughts and memories of what seems like a lifetime ago. Enjoy your children while they are small, cherish each day and milestone, because before you know it they are grown and out on their own. My house some days is very lonely...I wake up thinking about them, and they are the last thing on my mind when I got to bed. I knew one day I would miss the hustle and bustle....just not this soon...Happy Birthday Kyle...all my love to my son....love Mom
