About Me

Clarks Summit, Pennsylvania, United States
I have been crafting and doing shows for 20 plus years. I have 3 children and I love creating primitive country crafts. I am married and my husband is my biggest asset to my success. But I can't forget the help my children have been through the years and still to this day. This has been a true family event. I hope you like what you see. I have made so many friends through the years. They started out as customers an are now dear friends, and that is all worth the long hours that we all put into making our creations. I say our creations, because my husband and children help in so many ways. Enjoy my pictures and posts, have a cup of coffee and some downtime to just relax...and come back soon...from my house to yours, Denise

Is anyone crafting yet?

Hi everyone, well here it is the 18th of January already. Where has the time gone, it was just Christmas not too long ago. They say time flies when you are having fun. Hmm....trying to get back into crafting is not fun. I like my time off, well as off as it could be. I still kept myself busy catching up on things like paperwork, housework, organizing things that just needed to be organized. While I procrastinate very much about getting back into the groove, I know I need to get my butt in gear. I am looking for some stores to carry my product. I am getting a bit tired of traveling to shows and setting up, doing the show, breaking down and then the long ride home. I have been sketching in my tablet of new things to make, but getting out to the garage to cut them out takes some dedication which I think is still on vacation. I did start on some shamrocks for an order, and a few hearts so I am not quite at a standstill ...but time will tell if I can get motivated. I always work well under pressure, that is when I do my best work.

So the holidays are over, all the hustle and bustle to get ready for them is in the past. The past year went quick. I can remember when I was a kid, days seemed so long, summer vacation was forever....I really think they shorten up on the hours in a day as we get older, it has to be what is happening...seems like a good answer, but we all know time waits for no one. I took a great picture of the moon the other day, yes mid morning is when I snapped this picture. It was both beautiful and eerie at the same time.

I have some new things in store for this year. I won't spill the beans just yet, but as soon as I get some of the new ideas done I will post pictures of them. You can say I am going back to my "roots" so to speak. My husband and I do all the shows by ourselves, with the exception of a few we have to ask our children for help. But I am looking for an easier unload, setup and load situation...and hopefully my new ideas will help that out. So stay tuned for the unveil...hopefully within a few months I will have something to show, if not sooner.

Here is a picture of my newest kitten Tater Tot. If you had read prior posts you will have known about him, and that this kitten is quite sick. He has had a time with food, not keeping it down. We have to give him a piece of a generic Pepsid AC tab twice a day crushed in his wet food. Then we have to wait to feed him his dry, giving the pill time to coat his tummy. He also has a bad heart, which this they say can be the cause of his tummy issues. Nothing can be done, he may be around for years, or he may just fall over one day after he gets winded running around. There are times he will play, and then just flop on the floor and you can see his little chest heaving, and his labored breathing thru his mouth. I hope he is with us a good long time, as I have 2 other cats besides him and he is by far the sweetest kitten I have ever owned. He is now 8 months old, fluffy as can be, his tail is longer than him, we laugh cause it looks like a feather duster. Here in this picture he is trying to sneak up on the other two as he sits planning his surprise attack from the laundry basket. Animals are amazing creatures, they are your friends for life, they don't judge you, don't get mad at you, they miss you when you are not home, and they are so loving.

Well I think that is it for today. I have a few things to finish organizing, my problem is staying focused. I get so side tracked, mainly because I have more to do than not to do...I did get a bunch of supplies I can use for crafting after Christmas at the sales, but believe it or not, they are all still in the basement in bags not yet put away...so maybe tonight I will accomplish just that..enjoy your January everyone.

Silence is White

I wanted to wish everyone a Happy New Year. I hope your holidays were all you wanted them to be. I have been sitting here all day working on my taxes, getting them all wrapped up so I can start cutting out patterns and building up my stock. It is a warm day again, most of the winter so far has been like this. While it is nice in one way, we have had very little snow. Only one snowfall to speak of and it happened on Halloween night. I will post the pictures I took from my bedroom window, experimenting with a new camera. Thus the title of this blog.

The night was dark, snow was falling and it was cold, beautiful...but silent. You could hear nothing, not even the snow hitting the trees outside my window. Of course I had to shut my door of my bedroom to do this, because the last time I tried to take pictures with the window sash up and no screen....I almost had flying cats go through it. I never hear them coming into the room, but quick as anything they jumped up along side of my arms onto the sill, and how they didn't go for a ride I will never know.

There is something special about a snowfall. It is like nature is just hiding all the dirt, old farm equipment, anything that is not supposed to be there with a blanket of clean, white, sparkling snow. It looks so different from nightfall to daylight. It shimmers if there is a moon out, but in the morning it is like a wonderland until the sun starts to melt it away.

I don't know about you, but I love to walk, drive, shop in the snow. While I like to watch it snow during the day, there is something magical about a snowfall at night. The best kind of snow is the one that covers every branch of the trees and bushes. When I walk in the snow, especially at night it brings back memories of when I met my husband and the walks we took while most people were all warm inside their homes. Next time it snows at night, take a walk and listen to its silence. Look up at a street light and watch the flakes coming at you like cold, wet feathers falling from the sky. Listen to how peaceful the world is for that moment, and then continue to walk and know that what you are doing at that moment will be a memory for you later in your life. And you will smile.
