About Me

Clarks Summit, Pennsylvania, United States
I have been crafting and doing shows for 20 plus years. I have 3 children and I love creating primitive country crafts. I am married and my husband is my biggest asset to my success. But I can't forget the help my children have been through the years and still to this day. This has been a true family event. I hope you like what you see. I have made so many friends through the years. They started out as customers an are now dear friends, and that is all worth the long hours that we all put into making our creations. I say our creations, because my husband and children help in so many ways. Enjoy my pictures and posts, have a cup of coffee and some downtime to just relax...and come back soon...from my house to yours, Denise

I Got Past The First Show

Hi everyone, today is March 19th, closing in on a quarter of the new year gone already.  Time flies but not necessarily are we having fun.  Each day presents a new challenge in each life.  My title of this blog is exactly as it reads.  I had my first craft show of this year.  The first one is the hardest one to do in my opinion.  First, I always forget a few things that I need at this show.  With having a sale at the end of my show season at my house, things are brought into the house that are best left in the show trailer.  But unfortunately they are needed when I do this house show.  So, thanks to some of my crafter friends I scrounged up some much needed tissue to wrap each item before I bagged them.  I also forgot my room sprays, and my wood houses for my porch posts...nothing as bad as when I forgot my bags one year.  That was a really bad thing to forget.  I write down a list as I think of things...and the things I remember and don't take the time to write down, are the items I forget.  I want to blame it on getting "older" but I have done this since I started shows, so it is an ongoing problem... but most of the time easily fixed with the help of the crafters I have helped along the way.

So let's talk about the show.  The day was nice, chilly but the show was a little slow at times.  But we had some selling spurts throughout the day.  It wasn't my worst show there, and not my best.  I had a lot of new things to keep my booth fresh to both my regular customers and all the new ones that find me.  Sadly the Spring and Summer shows are not as strong in sales as years past, so I am only doing a limited number of them.  My Fall and Winter shows are stronger in sales and I do more from September on.  I will post some pictures from my show of some of the new items I have made.  Please note that some of these may be available on my Etsy shop.  https://www.etsy.com/shop/DenisesKountryPatch

I have been working on Fall and Winter items since January, along with the season of the moment.  Some new avenues are being explored, as lumber has really taken a huge increase since we have had so many hurricanes and flooding across the country.  I am not sure if I will have any of the 4 foot tall wood items this year, but will see how it goes.  I am going to add more vintage items as well as fabric creations that I have been collecting and buying patterns for.  The fabric will surely make our totes much lighter to handle so there is a bright side to change.  I am going to work on a giveaway soon for all of you to have a chance to win.  Hopefully for my next blog post it will be ready.  Well that is that for this post, I hope and wish for all your days to be all you want them to be.

Hi Denise,
Your space/boot looks wonderful.
Oh my goodness shows are hard...we did our first one last August...well, the first one in years that is.
We always did IN-HOME SHOWS in our home at Christmas time and then what was left over we had a sale in the summer...worked just perfect.
Hope you post again soon!!!
